Wilkes County pastor charged with 115 sex offenses involving minors
WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — A Wilkes County pastor was arrested Thursday on more than 100 counts of felony sex offenses that span 15 years, detectives said.
Rodney Dean Luffman, 58, of Pleasant Ridge Road, was arrested by Detective Amanda Boyd of the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Luffman is charged in connection with two male victims and one female victim.
Luffman is charged with 115 felony sex charges — 80 counts of indecent liberties and 35 counts of sexual offenses.
One of the victims was as young as 4 years old, and the other was as old as 16 when the offenses occurred, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The offenses against two of the victims happened over a period of 15 years, mostly between 2000 and 2015, detectives said.
Luffman is the pastor of Open Arms Outreach Ministries, a nondenominational church on State Highway 268 in West End Elkin, according to the church’s website.
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Luke 17:2 “It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”
Detectives said Luffman has also been a Methodist minister.
Luffman is in the Wilkes County Jail on $1 million bail.
